Warranties

Warranties are important and PART of all purchases of equipment.  You should understand your warranties so PLEASE ask your service provider or equipment installer any questions you may have regarding repairs to your equipment, or any new equipment installed.

NEW Equipment Installation

All new heating and cooling equipment IS provided with a 10-year warranty on major components and parts.

Note 1: there is no labor warranty normally associated with replacing a failed component or part.

Note 2: in order to receive a 10-year warranty YOU or the installation group must file the correct paperwork online or at the Manufacturer’s Sales Branch, where the equipment was purchased.  This is known as Equipment Registration.  If the equipment is not registered it will only receive a 5-year warranty.

Note 3:  A 10-year warranty is only available to the original equipment purchaser.  If you buy a house, condo, townhouse, or other dwelling your warranty will be reduced to 5 years by the Manufacturer of the equipment.  Some manufacturers do monitor and keep track of equipment purchases and the name and address where the equipment has been installed.

Labor Warranties

Typically, there is no warranty coverage for the labor costs associated with replacing failed components or equipment that remains covered under warranty.  Different Companies can have wildly different charges for Labor to replace these failed components.  Ask the installation or service company about any charges that you will be responsible for when installing equipment under warranty.

There are Manufacturer Warranties provided by Equipment Manufacturers.  One example is the Daikin Group.  These warranties are purchased at the time of equipment installation and may cover a full 10 years.

DO NOT think that a service or installation company can provide a Labor Warranty for an extended period of time, even if it is “put into writing” at the time of equipment purchase.  IF the installation company is purchased, reorganized, or goes out of business this Labor Warranty will not be honored.

Additional Warranties (eg. Water damage Protection and Recovery)

From time-to-time additional equipment and/or operations warranty coverage are made available to customers.  For example, Air Conditioning equipment generates many gallons of water when operated in summertime and during periods of high humidity.  Properly installed HVAC equipment incorporates a protective drain pan with water safety float equipment shutoff switches, evaporator coil mounted water safety shutoff switches, and floor sitting water safety shutoff switches to stop water generation if a drainage problem occurs.  Milton Mechanical Services installs these safety switches and provides a 2-year period of up to $2500 dollars to cover water damage if a problem were to occur.  The protection period increases to 4 years if an annual Maintenance Plan is purchased.
